Way Public Library Receives Grant From IEEE for Science Kits

The Library has received a $2,000 grant from The IEEE Foundation,

 IEEE Life Members Committee and the IEEE-Chicago Section. 

 This grant provided funds for the development of Science Kits for Teachers

for use in our public and private schools and for homeschoolers.

 Kits include  Magnetism,  Weather Studies, Miscroscopic Explorations, Van deGraaf Generator,

 Simple and Motorized Mechanisms and Snap Circuits Lab. 

The kits will be available for check out for the 2012-2013 school year.

  The library will also utilize the kits this summer during our youth and teen summer reading programs.

Science materials made possible by a grant from:  

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day),

known as Día, is a celebration EVERY DAY of children, families, and reading

 that culminates every year on April 30.

The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children

 of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.


Way Library will celebrate this special day on April 30, 2012

 with a drop in storytime beginning at 10:00 a.m.

 in the family activity room for children ages 3 - 6. 

 Stories, fingerplays and a craft activity will be included.  

 Children will learn to  count in Spanish

and also be introduced to Spanish terms for various animals. 

This is a free event and no registration is required.
